Teacher and artist, Gretchen Brand, has been an art educator for 13 years in the classroom.  After graduating from Mercer University in 1992 with a BA double major of Art and Education, she began her teaching career at Warner Robins High School.  When her family moved to Columbus, Ga, she taught for several more years at Pacelli High School.   Their son’s birth allowed her to be a stay at home mom, who still was involved in the art community, volunteering at the museum and teaching private lessons.  But after several years it was time to go back to the classroom.  She has had the experience of teaching at all grade levels: Midland Academy, Kendrick High School, Fort Service Learning Magnet Academy, Chattahoochee County Middle and High School, and now at Columbus High School.   It is here at Columbus High School that she has found her “home”.  She is extremely proud of the students lives she has touched over the years.  Gretchen Brand has taught students who went on to become art professors and teachers, won oscars, art curators at museums. She has also taught thousands of successful students to be creative, think like artists and make a difference in their world.
