Lauryn Makynleigh Roberson
Lauryn Makynleigh Roberson is a senior at Columbus High School. Next year, she will be attending Columbus State University for one year. After that, she will be moving to Savannah, Georgia to enroll into her dream college which is Savannah College of Art and Design. She enjoys working and experimenting with many mediums but the one she favors the most is photography.
Artist statement:
Throughout my sustained investigation, I explored society’s standards of a “perfect body” and how it affects a woman as a whole. My investigation started out as a promotion towards body positivity. Initially, my photographs evolved around the beautiful aspects of a woman's body on the inside and out. As I continued on with my investigation, I began to ask myself “how does society's standards affect a woman's mind in a negative light?” From then on, I continued to make projects that presented the awful side effects of these standards.
